Tech Tip: Never pay full price for anything on the internet!

Don’t press the checkout button just yet! Many online merchants support coupon codes to get discounts that can save you a lot of money over time. So before you give away more money than you might have to, take a few minutes to see if there is a coupon available.

Where do I go to find coupons?

There are likely many sites out there but the one I go to first is RetailMeNot.On the website, there is a search box where you type in the store you’re shopping from and it returns a page with various offers available.

It gives a success rate for each offer. An offer may not work for various reasons. Most have an expiration date or may only apply for your first purchase. If one doesn’t work you can try others.

When you select an offer it displays a dialog box from which you can copy the code to apply to your shopping cart. In some cases, it redirects you to the site with the code already applied.

When you go back to your checkout look for a field asking for a coupon and add the code. Here’s a before and after for GoDaddy.

As you see, the code saves me about $5.00.

I use it most often to purchases domains and web hosting packages but with over 50,000 merchants supported your favorites should work as well.

Happy saving! 🙂
